I started writing poetry in 2013 I think, so I guess you could say this book took 12 years to write. I really only started putting it together in January of 2025, but most of the pieces were finished by then. There's a lot I chose not to include, certain poems from a time when my mental health was much worse and my work was considerably less refined. I wanted to put them on display in an effort of honesty but decided better of it. The oldest note I unpinned from my board was from 2018, those other pieces were older.

I'm on to bigger and better things, and I am aiming to write another one. In fact I have the outline ready and I'm so preoccupied elsewhere that it's just sort of taunting me. I'm looking forward to the moment when I get write it but I'm very satisfied with the creative endeavors in front of me. Endeavors that owe a lot to this completed work. The happiness I felt when printing the manuscript off at the local library was enough reward, but I thought it might only be right to push the envelope a little further.

Everything herein is entirely my own. It is a mix of poems and anecdotes from real life experiences. It is coping and struggle and victory. It is about as honest as I can be and I am so very proud of it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. To say anything else would be a disservice to the work and I hope it brings you more comfort than dissatisfaction, despite the grim and overbearing tone it brings.
