Pope Pius XI and the Doctrine of Christ's Kingship (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798233638893)

The doctrine of the Kingship of Christ stands at the very heart of the Catholic faith, not as an ornament of piety or a poetic metaphor, but as a concrete and objective truth about the identity of Jesus Christ and His sovereign rights over all creation. From the earliest centuries of the Church, Christians professed that Christ is King: King of hearts and souls, King of the Church, King of nations, King of the entire cosmos. This conviction shaped the civilization that came to be known as Christendom, informed the laws and customs of Christian peoples, and animated the spiritual life of countless saints. Yet in the modern world, this doctrine has been obscured, contested, or reduced to a purely spiritualized symbol. It was into this context of confusion and upheaval that Pope Pius XI issued Quas Primas in 1925, a document that sought not merely to reaffirm a neglected truth but to reassert the full scope of Christ's royal prerogatives in an age increasingly defined by secularism, relativism, and the rejection of divine authority.

This book seeks to explore the doctrine of Christ's Kingship through the lens of Quas Primas, situating the encyclical within the broader sweep of Catholic tradition and examining its enduring relevance for the contemporary Church and world. The approach is unapologetically traditional, not in the sense of nostalgia or antiquarianism, but in fidelity to the perennial teaching of the Church as it has been handed down through Scripture, the Fathers, the Doctors, and the Magisterium. The aim is to recover the clarity, vigor, and supernatural vision with which earlier generations understood Christ's dominion, and to articulate why Pius XI's teaching remains indispensable for any authentic renewal of Catholic life today.
