This play is designed for teachers and parents to use for second-grade social studies lessons on Native American culture. There are two versions of the play. One that can be read in class aloud and one that is shortened which can easily be performed by the class.
The play about a student who goes on a field trip about Native American tribes with his second-grade class. The boy falls asleep and is approached by a time traveler. They visit the Powhatan, Lakota and Pueblo Tribes. At each destination they learn about the culture, climate, land, occupations, homes and ways of transportation for each Native American tribe. This play address the Virginia SOL in social studies: 2.3 The student will compare the lives and contributions of three American Indian cultures of the past and present, with emphasis on the Powhatan of the Eastern Woodlands; the Lakota of the Plains; and the Pueblo peoples of the Southwest.Thanks for subscribing!
