Manfred K. Bahmann attended the German universities of Goettingen, Heidelberg and Bonn and earned a Ph.D. in church history. He was a theology professor in Argentina, a Lutheran parish pastor in Cold-War West Berlin, a campus pastor at Stanford University and NYU, and a popular lecturer on interfaith issues. His memoir "From the Ashes of Dresden to Existential Grace" was published in 2014. Before his death in June 2017 he was deeply involved in the Jewish-Christian dialogue and worshiped regularly at a Reform Jewish synagogue.
