Commander Char Crawford's return to Earth from a failed mission to Mars-and the interrogation concerning the malfunctioning fuel-dump valve she overrode to save her crew-has her heading home, hoping to escape the brief notoriety. But she now feels a shadow: is she being followed, and by whom?

Then there's the projector she found in her spacesuit pocket, no bigger than a large grape, carrying a message from a man three hundred years in the future, reminding her she wasn't in cryogenic sleep for the entire three months of her failed mission.

How can she share a story she can barely believe herself? The only person she trusts is Riley Richardson, a former Delta Force officer turned healing coach and her one-time boyfriend. He'll shield her from the storm trying to crush them, no matter the cost.

With Riley's associates at their sides, they race to expose a massive international fraud scheme-a ruthless bid to dominate the world's supply of a rare mineral-masterminded by an ex-FBI interrogator who has always gotten what he wants.
