Project Girl (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781960853967)

The Memphis Parks Literacy Series

Step into the imaginations of young storytellers from the heart of Memphis, Tennessee. This inspiring 10-book series features original works written by inner-city youth who turned the tables-this time, they are the authors. With the encouragement of Ms. Ericia and the Memphis Parks Literacy Program, these talented kids captured their voices and visions on the page.

From heartfelt reflections on life in the projects to thrilling tales of ghosts who save the day, these stories are full of heart, humor, and hope.

They say you can take the girl out of the projects, but you can't take the projects out of the girl. For me, that means pride, strength, and the determination to rise-no matter where I come from.

In Project Girl, a young girl reflects on her journey growing up in the projects with big dreams, a sharp mind, and a heart full of courage. From excelling in school to leading as a cheerleader, singing in the choir, and standing up for herself and others, she proves that where you start doesn't define where you'll go.

With honesty, grit, and hope, this inspiring memoir captures what it means to grow up in a place full of challenges-and still dream of changing the world. Whether as a teacher, a lawyer, or a future politician, one thing is clear: she's not just a project girl. She's a force to be reckoned with.

A must-read for anyone who's ever been underestimated-and chose to rise anyway.
