Proximal Origin: A Thriller of Secret Science, Public Certainty, and the Fight for the Truth (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798190432770)

A missing row in a scientific archive should have been a routine clerical problem. Instead, it becomes the first trace of a conspiracy built to survive every investigation.

Archivist Keziah Sorell discovers that critical records connected to a devastating outbreak have been altered. An annex has disappeared. Samples officially marked for destruction may still exist. Private scientific doubts have been erased from the public record, while a carefully engineered consensus has transformed uncertainty into unquestionable fact.

As Keziah follows the evidence, other pieces of the buried history begin surfacing across borders. A frightened scientist carries the memory of an unauthorized transfer. An investigator finds four minutes that should not exist in the official timeline. A journalist uncovers a hidden bridge between research funding, political pressure, and the institutions responsible for telling the world what happened.

Each discovery points toward Dr. Ephrem Calder, a celebrated scientific authority who helped shape the official explanation of the outbreak. Calder insists that every decision was justified by the information available at the time. But someone has manipulated definitions, suppressed records, threatened witnesses, and constructed a public answer before the evidence could support it.

Now the people pursuing the truth must prove not only that the record was changed, but who changed it, why they did it, and what they are still willing to destroy to keep the original chain of custody hidden.

PROXIMAL ORIGIN is a tense investigative thriller about secret science, institutional power, manufactured certainty, and the ordinary people who risk everything to preserve the truth.

When evidence can be erased, language can be manipulated, and consensus can be engineered, the most dangerous question is also the simplest:

What really happened?
