Push!: Close Encounters of The Midwife Kind (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798521353361)

Filled with apprehension on her first day of training at the local maternity hospital, student midwife Sylvia Ayres embarks on a two-year journey of discovery, not only about Midwifery, but about herself, as she blossoms from raw recruit to polished professional. The rose-tinted spectacles of perfect birth and motherhood are demolished on day one as she enters the world of clinical Midwifery, and the reader is taken on a rollercoaster of emotions during her first encounter of childbirth. Heart-warming normal births, catastrophic clinical emergencies, and humorous encounters are all recounted using the author's own clinical experiences and memories as a fledgling student Midwife in nineteen seventy-two in one of the busiest maternity units in the country.
