Joe Sinclair is an author, athlete, and lifelong educator. A native of North Carolina, he's led multiple school districts and is a former North Carolina School Superintendent of the Year. He holds two master's degrees, an educational specialist degree, and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Sinclair is the author of two books based on his life experiences, Putting Life on the Finish Line and The Marathon Called Educational Leadership, as well as the children's book Lulu the Snow Goat. He wrote Queenie and Little Joe to teach young children about the consequences of negative behavior. He lives with his wife, Claryce, in Statesville, North Carolina.

Shannon Brown is a freelance illustrator from Granite Falls, North Carolina. He spent fifteen years as an art therapist in the mental health field and now works for the North Carolina Community College System. Brown has a bachelor's degree in art education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a master's degree in Creative Arts in Therapy from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He enjoys kayaking and camping with his wife, Shari, and their three children, Taylor, Madison, and Sophie.
