He attended the University of The District of Columbia and The Washington Bible College and Capitol Seminary. He is a former Washington, D.C. firefighter and construction consultant. H.K. wrote the monthly news letter for a small Chicago charter school network, and he now volunteers as a high school track team parent and youth mentor. His inspiration for writing this book was the untimely death of his wife when his daughter was a nine month old infant. He is currently working on becoming a motivational speaker, and he enjoys encouraging fathers and single fathers to stay involved in their children's daily lives and to develop healthy father daughter/son relationships.
