Bawa Kuyini was born in Bimbila, Ghana and is currently engaged as senior lecturer in Social Work and Education at the University of New England, Australia. Bawa attended school in Bimbila, Yendi and Tamale in Ghana before completing a Bachelor of Education (Hons) Degree at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He taught at a Teachers' Training College and a secondary school for some years. In the late 1990s, he studied Social Work at Volda University College, Norway and worked as social worker for the Asker Local Government, Norway until 2001. He then completed a PhD in Education at the University of Melbourne, Australia. As a teacher and researcher on educational and social issues, his research interests are in special /inclusive education and social work, including child rights, disability, refugees and migration. Music and sports, especially Soccer and Hockey are key leisure activities.
