Their research leads them to go to Mississippi, to meet Trevor's dad, Patrice, and to return home to confront-successfully-Vermont's system of punitive justice and long sentencing. Several unique characters along their way help them toward success. The Vermont State Legislature acknowledges the good work that they have done.
