Michael was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1933. He was also a keen Rugby player with both Richmond and Garryowen as well as Young Munster. It was there in the Stella Ballroom that he met New York native Nora Halpin. He began working in the mortgage industry until drafted into the army in 1957. Upon honorable discharge, he returned to the lending business, studied at Fordham University and retired in 1998. In addition to Reflections of a Greenhorn, he authored The Brogues; an eighty six page ode borrowing from Irish folklore and his own imagination.
