xThomas R. Franz received his PhD in Spanish literature from the University of Kansas and is Professor Emeritus of Spanish at Ohio University, where he taught nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first century Spanish literature. He is the author of books on Unamuno, Galdós, Valera, and Antonio Machado as well as approximately one hundred studies on Spanish writers of the last one hundred and fifty years. He is a founding editor of DECIMONÓNICA, is on the editorial board of HISPANIC STUDIES REVIEW, and is a member of the "comité científico" of CUADERNOS CDE LA CÁTEDRA MIGUEL DE UNAMUNO.
