Offense isn't a feeling. It's bait.
The deepest wounds rarely come from the world outside. They come from the people you walked to church beside-the leader you trusted, the friend who turned, the community that was supposed to be safe. And in the moment you're wounded, something else is quietly offered to you. Something that feels like justice. Something that feels like clarity. Something that feels like the only sane response to what was done.
That something is called offense-and it is not what you think it is.
When Jesus warned that offenses would come, He used the word skandalon: the bait stick of a trap, the trigger that holds the lure. The bait is what the animal wants. The trap is what the animal gets. The offense is the bait. Bitterness, isolation, suspicion, and a slow drift from God are the trap. And no one can make you take it.
Refuse the Bait is written for believers wounded inside the house of God-by narcissistic leadership, gaslighting, weaponized Scripture, and spiritual abuse dressed in the language of faith. It refuses the two lies the church has told wounded people for far too long: that the abuse wasn't real, and that you must stay silent and swallow it. Instead, it offers a harder and better path-freedom that doesn't require you to become bitter, and doesn't require you to pretend you were never hurt.
Across four parts and twelve chapters, you'll learn to:
You can be hurt without being hardened. You can tell the truth about what was done to you and still refuse to let it define you.
The offense has already come. What you do with the bait is still entirely yours.
Refuse it. Guard your heart. And walk free
