Susan L. Metzger's success as an author has focused on works for children ages 7 and up, including her Spirit Dogs trilogy under pen name Susan Kelleher. She began writing her first novel when she was in second grade and won numerous fiction-writing contests. She went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing degree from Western Michigan University after completing an MS in Counseling Psychology and an MBA in Organizational Behavior. Her work life has revolved around both counseling and the teaching of college English and Literature. She is a dog, cat, and horse lover and an avid hiker and bicycler where she lives in Colorado.
