Reinhard Redenberg and the Weight of What Might Be: A historical fantasy novel about magic and choices (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798185178614)

In a historically inspired world where magic is part of everyday life, it still rarely offers simple answers.

Reinhard Redenberg, Wolfgang Watanabe, Camille Marchand and Gustav Brenner encounter five unusual cases: a man at Karlsruhe station who takes leave too carefully; a girl whose talent may be misunderstood before anyone has truly looked; a doctor who must not lose his doubt; a stolen fishing rod that leads to a Berlin office where even responsibility requires the correct procedure; and, finally, the Kurhaus Höhenblick near Herisau.

There, doctors, alchemists, magical researchers, teachers and administrators are working on a model meant to help people before their lives go off track. They want to prevent suffering, ease decisions and stabilise dangerous paths.

Their goal is not evil.

That is precisely what makes it difficult.

For help can support a person. It can also begin to guide them before they know where they meant to go.

Reinhard Redenberg and the Weight of What Might Be is quiet historical fantasy about memory, doubt, responsibility and the danger of good intentions becoming too certain of themselves.

No chosen one. No great battles. No simple villain.

Instead: railway stations, files, magical objects, dry humour and people who must learn that not every possibility should be used simply because it can be seen.
