Marilyn K. Thomas, a great visionary and entrepreneur by spirit, started her first business at age 10. Kid Power was operated by her and her siblings during the summer where they offered cleaning and babysitting services. A natural born leader, Marilyn has held many leadership roles. Her strengths lie in her ability to motivate and encourage others. Dr. Thomas' formal education began at Texas Woman's University in Denton Texas where she studied Criminal Justice and Psychology. Her education was extended to Amberton University where she obtained a Masters of Science Degree in Human Resources and Training. Dr. Thomas returned to Texas Woman's University and earned her doctoral degree in Family Studies. A fourth degree from Southern Methodist University in Dispute Resolution was earned, and she is also a Certified Family Life Educator, a Certified Executive Coach, and a Certified Mediator. This native Houstonian is not only a dreamer but also a doer. Marilyn has spent several years in the educational area. After noticing unmet needs among students, Marilyn started CREATE, a business that provides counseling resources, education and training for students and their families. Dr. Thomas helps others realize their visions and bring their dreams to fruition by acting as a sounding board and using her unique ability of helping others focus on their goals and aspirations. Dr. Thomas founded Tranquil Ends Foundation, Inc. in 2004 and is currently restructuring the foundation. Because Dr. Thomas has always been passionate about helping others and believing that mental health is paramount to individual success, she will finalize coursework as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the summer of 2018. Dr. Thomas' philosophy in life is simple: "Change is Inevitable, Growth is Optional!" She believes that change occurs inevitably and that only two types of people exist: Those who accept change and grow with it, and those who allow change to overthrow them. Dr. Thomas' heart of all hearts is her daughter, Sydni Magdalene Paige Carter. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with those she loves, reading a good book, and spending time with her Savior as she states: "There is absolutely nothing better than being in the presence of God!"
