Neville Maass Weaver has had a life-long experience with the German Texans, their language, their culture and their food. Nevilee Anna Agnes Maass, the name on her baptismal certificate, was born on a farm near Burton, Texas, on February 27, 1928. She is a granddaughter of Germans who settled in Texas in the late nineteenth century. After earning her degree, Weaver taught German, English, English as a second language and/or speech courses for the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District for more than twenty years. She also taught a German course for Tomball College, a North Harris-Montgomery County Community College.
