This publication offers a transcribed copy of the Rhea County, Tennessee court minutes spanning the years 1853 through 1866. The Justices of the Peace, who were elected from various civil districts, presided over the County Court which handled civil matters such as appointing administrators on estates, guardians for minor heirs, road overseers, juries of view to lay off new roads, various committees, Jurors for the Circuit Court, and some of the County officers. These records contain hundreds of names of residents in the county and document the roles they held during this period. The author uses an index arranged alphabetically by subject or surname to conclude this work.
