Rick Jr. (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781973760047)

It's hard not to love innocent, young, impressionable Rick Jr. At 10-years-old, he's craving attention and validation from those who are harming him the most. This short snippet of Rick Jr.'s life details the trauma he faces as a young boy growing up in rural North Carolina with his single mother, Deborah. In many ways, Deborah's preoccupation with her faith doesn't allow her to realize what her son is experiencing, and even if she were to, she might not have the propensity to intervene in a way that might be helpful. This leaves Rick Jr. in a very precarious place as a young man who is navigating life poor, Black, and fatherless.
