Cookie who is their new cook turns out to be an excellent chef, yet refuses to bathe that is until the women of the Windslow Ranch take matters into their own hands and clean him up. He changes his ways and is known as Charles. He becomes well known in the territory for his culinary talents. He quits the Windslow Ranch and heads out for California to find himself a wife. There is much action and adventure when Charles goes to California and falls in love with a beautiful woman. But first he must save her tarnished reputation before he can propose marriage. There is a Civil War on the horizon and Jacob and Zac are selling a herd of horses to the U. S. Cavalry in Fort Boise. The Confederate spies have learned of their horse drive, and set out to ambush their group and steal their horses. The Windslow Ranch Indians scouts alert them of the attack, and Jacob and Zac turn the tables on the Rebels in a terrible battle, where Zac is serious injured.
