Run From the Dawn

By Bob Lock

On Planet Seventy-Seven, known to its native skaynes (tribes) as Vein, survival means chasing the night and fleeing the lethal light of a dying star. When a human mining expedition arrives in search of iridium, they uncover a world of living shadows - and a people who drink blood not for pleasure, but for survival.

Among the skaynes, Valery Burr struggles to preserve what remains of his kind. Among the humans, Norma Bengelli fights her own ghosts and the brutal command of Major Tucker, whose greed threatens to ignite a war neither side can win.

As deception, survival, and vengeance intertwine, Valery and Bengelli must choose between loyalty to their species and the fragile hope of coexistence.
When the dawn finally comes for Vein, it will burn away the lies - and reveal what it truly means to be human.
