Maude Helen Baker was a wife, mother, grandmother, nurse and an aspiring writer who had a passion for serving others. Maude graduated as an RN in 1961, and actively practiced her profession for 45 years. She received her BSN from the College of St. Francis, and re-careered to teaching in the Practical Nursing Program in the Chicago Public School System. In 1980 she received her Master's Degree in Health Sciences from Governors State University as well as a Master's in Education from the National College of Education in 1981. Maude was a devout Christian and served at the Commonwealth Community Church and Covenant United Church of Christ for many years. The Maude H. Baker Health and Wellness Ministry bears her name due to her dedication and love for her ministry. Maude Helen Baker was married to Isaac Beal for 24 years and had two wonderful daughter, Leslie and Carol. She was the proud grandmother of three amazing grandchildren, Hosea, Isaac and Alina. In August of 2011, Maude H. Baker was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. She fought her battle valiantly until November 24, 2012 when she succumbed to the illness and passed away. She was truly loved and is sorely missed.
