Saint Jane Frances FrÃ(c)myot De Chantal (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781025968858)

"Saint Jane Frances Fremyot De Chantal" offers a profound exploration of the life and spiritual legacy of one of the Catholic Church's most revered figures. Born into the French nobility in 1572, Jane Frances de Chantal navigated the roles of wife and mother before her widowhood led her toward a deeper religious calling. Under the spiritual direction of Saint Francis de Sales, she became the co-foundress of the Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary, a congregation known for its focus on humility and internal prayer.

This work examines her journey from the courtly life of France to the cloister, highlighting her remarkable perseverance and deep devotion. It provides insight into her correspondence and the development of the Visitation Order, which offered a religious path for women who might not have met the physical requirements of more rigorous orders. Readers will discover the enduring influence of her teachings on modern spirituality and the collaborative bond she shared with Saint Francis de Sales. A valuable resource for those interested in hagiography, 17th-century French history, and the evolution of monastic life, this volume preserves the memory of a woman whose courage and faith continue to inspire.
