xAbout the Author Scott A. Froyen A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Scott started his career as a certified public accountant at KPMG, servicing clients in the financial services industries. He spent the bulk of his career in the health insurance industry as a leader in the areas of finance, operations, and sales. In all roles, he led development and execution of strategic and operational plans, continuous process improvement, and culture enhancement. His strong customer focus and desire to provide the highest possible value for the dollar earned him the unofficial title of fix-it guy. He and his spouse Melanie met at a disco on a New Year's Eve and were married a year later on a leap-year day. They have two children, three grandchildren, and two dogs. He played collegiate tennis and has continued competing to this day. He also plays the drums in upbeat blues and classic rock cover bands and is a six-sigma black belt. Scott has volunteered for many organizations over the years, his most significant contribution being as a board member and past chairman of LifeServe Blood Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
