Sadhvi Ramya Darshana Shriji (originally known as Rita Chandulal Kothari) was born in Mumbai in an elite Jain family. Since childhood, she would actively participate in all the religious activities and always expressed deep interest in gaining knowledge in Jainism. By the time she had graduated from college, she had made up her mind to pursue another "higher life". She then decided to gain expertise in Sanskrit and Jainism, and learning never stopped there.
