With an understanding of such systems - the reader can join with other American voters to make America great for everyone.The governing systems covered in the book are those for economics, politics, defense, education, health care and social needs (such as housing, law enforcement, and Social Security).In February of 2019, I started two discussion groups to hold apolitical discussions of political topics (Star City Thinkers and James River Thinkers). To attract new members, via Facebook and Meetup.com, I posted short blurbs addressing political issues, which I called "conversation starters." The blurbs were popular and the discussion groups were growing in members. Then along came Covid-19. I suspended the group meetups in March of 2020. In front of several members of the Star City Thinkers group, while thinking to myself, I said out loud "what will I now do for a retirement project?" A couple of members suggested putting together a book of my conversation starters.At the time, I did not have enough conversation starters to make a book; so, I expanded my material and added quotes from others. These others are both people who are famous and people who should be famous.Americans form their political positions based on both fact and myth. Sayings of Chuck and Others explores various topics in ways that help the reader develop a substantive understanding of the key governing systems (both public and private) that determine the quality of our lives. As a reader you are encouraged to discuss the book's topics with others by talking to friends and neighbors or by starting or joining a discussion group.If, using this book as a spring board, you were to start a discussion group, you will be treating yourself to making new friends, having a great time, and learning what you need to know to be a stellar American citizen.
