Prior to this, she placed as a semi-finalist in an international poetry contest that led to the publication of her poem in a volume of poetry. She studied liberal arts at Louisiana State University and the State University of New York. Besides writing, she has also worked as a realtor, litigation paralegal, and insurance agent over the past 25 years.
