It denotes a spiritual truth expressed in a figure of speech, e.g., a similitude, and concealed, or hidden thereby unless some explanation is given (Mt 13:11; Mk 4:11; Lk 8:10; Eph 5:32; Rev 1:20; 17:5,7).
