As a child, Joy Lenton used to chew her cardigans, munch on garden plants and eat treacle sandwiches for Sunday lunch. Now she digests words and spools them out in poetry and prose. Fuelled by strong coffee, dark chocolate and a deep desire to inspire and encourage others, she tends toward the reflective, poetic, prayerful and contemplative, although she has been known to take occasional leaps in a purely imaginative direction. Experience has been a painful teacher, but she remains an ardent chaser after grace in life's hard places despite her own challenging circumstances. As a former nurse, she used to race around wards all day, happily meeting patients' needs. Since M.E and chronic illness scuppered her career, limited and constrained her activities, and have held her hostage to the house, she often fails to keep up with her racing thoughts. Joy makes her home on the eastern shores of England where seagulls wheel, close to coast, tourist attraction Broadlands, farming and flat marshy fenlands. Her favourite occupations include people-watching, photo-snapping, TV dramas and living within the pages of books. Her work has been published in various anthologies including 'Hear Our Voice!', 'Breaking The Chain', 'A Word From The Wise', 'Individual Voices', 'The World Of Women' and 'Celebrations - 15 Years Of The People's Poetry'.
