Sense in Short Bursts!: Mary Thinks Aloud (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798566292595)

Written to interest the traveller using air or public transport, the items within the book arrive IN SEGMENTS, allowing for a break in reading. Using THE ELDERLY BUT ARTICULATE MARY as a thought sharing story teller, HER MUSES introduce us to her family and two friends, BERYL AND CHRISSIE' who spend their regular meetings drinking tea and DISCUSSING WITH IRONIC HUMOUR many of the situations being forced upon a depressed society by the COVID-19 LOCKDOWN. Their views and comments are CONTROVERSIAL and may bring disagreement especially from people in Authority and probably many of the younger generation. They use the expected thoughts of a more mature group of people, whose memories allow them to balance the previous systems against the replacements. THE THOUGHTS UTTERED BY THE THREE WOMEN IN THE BOOK MAY BE THE UNSPOKEN FEELINGS OF MANY OTHER PEOPLE. The book contains no 'Bad Language, ' but the Grammar is not perfect as it portrays thoughts. Some contentious subjects have not been avoided in the hope that they will be properly aired, instead of just causing subdued irritation. Celebrities, racist equality, gender equality, the T.V Licence each come under the women's scrutiny, but there is not any attack on any individual, just on the sometimes ludicrous situations being thrust on decent and able people. Using the 'TELEPHONE CHATS' six of our public services are laughed at for the newly adopted systems which could easily appear as ill thought out. THE VERSES AND RHYMES are an attempt to bring a calm reassurance that after this chaos ends we will have a special planet to live on and it may be the time to start treating it with greater care. IF WE CONSTANTLY KEEP AN EYE ON THOSE PURPORTING TO LEAD US, REGARDLESS OF PARTY OR CREED, WE HAVE LITTLE TO FEAR EXCEPT OUR OWN LACK OF CONCENTRATION. Here are some Quotes from the manuscript: (a) 'In this century we build Survivors, not Leaders.' (b) 'He had low expectations that he almost achieved.' (c) 'Mrs Blenheim bought 18 cases of cat food, then the cat died.' (d) 'We seem to have a lot of people applauding unknown medical staff, for not saving people they will never meet.' (e) 'This too shall pass.' (f) 'Life will take you where it wants you to go'. EVERYONE PLEASE STAY SAFE. TCT
