Seven Men (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781161452228)

Seven Men is a collection of seven essays written by the renowned British essayist and caricaturist, Max Beerbohm. The book was first published in 1919 and has since become a classic of English literature. Each essay is a character study of a different man, ranging from famous historical figures like Shakespeare and Napoleon to fictional characters like George Meredith's Richard Feverel. Beerbohm's writing style is witty, insightful, and often satirical, as he delves into the personalities, quirks, and flaws of his subjects. The book is a masterclass in character analysis, as Beerbohm uses his sharp observational skills to paint vivid portraits of each man. Seven Men is a must-read for anyone interested in English literature, history, and culture, and is a testament to Beerbohm's skill as a writer and thinker. What I had done was not merely base: it was very dangerous. I was in terror that she might rally him on his devotion to London. I didn't dare to move away. I was immensely relieved when at length she said she must be going. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
