Cheryl Oliver grew up in Northern Virginia, so close to Washington D.C. that the local news was the national news. Growing up she read Nancy Drew Mysteries, and the Hardy Boys, but her main interest was in stories written about history. As a small girl she would visit the Library of Congress with her grandmother and would help her do research. The love for books grew when she saw how many books there were on the shelves on the main floor. There were many stored on other floors. After graduating from Marymount University of Virginia, she continued to work full time. She always wanted to be a writer. When an injury made it impossible to work, she continued her writing. She lives in South Carolina, where she feels the beach is beautiful, and so are the mountains. If a hurricane were to come, she would quickly head for the hills. She writes whenever she can and considers herself a professional genealogist and a semi-professional gemologist. In the summer, she enjoys sitting reading and enjoying her beautiful garden. She enjoys traveling to historic places, walking, hiking and camping. Visiting groups and giving speeches brings her joy.
