Shepherd's Journal (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9781804842591)

Hidden in the forested hills of Thessaly, in central Greece, stands the Monastery of Saint George "Karaiskaki." It is from within this community that Sister Patrikia - one of its nuns - has written these stories. They are quiet, luminous, and deceptively simple: small windows into the life of young souls who have chosen the monastic path, and into the first, delicate ways that the Kingdom of Heaven makes itself known to them.

Shepherd's Journal does not set out to explain or instruct. It does something rarer: it shows. Through carefully crafted stories told with the ease of long familiarity, Sister Patrikia reveals the texture of a life ordered toward God - the moments of grace, the encounters with the unseen, the quiet interior movements that mark the beginning of a monastic vocation.

Accompanying the stories are the delicate illustrations of Sister Kyriaki, whose visual sensibility matches the spiritual tone of the text: neither sentimental nor austere, but held in the same luminous quietness that the stories themselves inhabit.

This colour edition presents both text and image in their full clarity. It is a book for those drawn to the contemplative life, for those curious about Orthodox monasticism, and for anyone who wishes to be reminded that heaven is not distant - only quiet.
