Shopping Moon: A Screenplay (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798769940750)

Shopping Moon is like Rocky Horror and Doctor Who playing out on two alien worlds where Planet Meeke and Dragonia banter and battle over an orbiting entertainment super-structure, a.k.a. the Shopping Moon.

A fragile peace returns to the galaxy when Brian of Texas wins star registry rights to Planet Meeke in an online auction. Regrettably, the auction website is a scam operated by two Florida con men. The dispute must be settled in Galactic Court where entertainment and drama can win over the massive alien jury via live stream broadcasts across the galaxy.

In Galactic Court, an obvious advantage goes to the conniving, flamboyant Queen Fabu, Domineer of Dragonia, but clever King Ardor, Grand Supreme Ruler-Servant of Planet Meeke, has tricks up his bleep, too.

Fame and fortune - and love - interrupt Brian's heroic quest to deliver the Shopping Moon. He must choose allies wisely or risk losing everything to Queen Fabu's corrupt intents. Her ominous plans for Brian: Plan A - kill Brian; Plan B - trick Brian; Plan C - it's complicated... and gets worse from there.

Will Shopping Moon bring war or peace to the universe? Regardless, the collateral is a gift for the galaxy: Planet Earth's coming-out party. And there's an amusing bonus for earthlings when UFOs are humorously explained.

About the Author

From the Author

Shopping Moon addresses the thoughts formed when we stare into space and wonder if a better life exists out there, or... Can we get some bleeping help for Earth?!

About the Genre

The genre is clearly a 'comedy sci-fi action adventure' but 'planetary coming-of-age epic actioner' also fits. So many quirks and connections, such a fun story to write.

Author Interview - an Introduction

What's a Shopping Moon?

The Shopping Moon of this story is an orbiting entertainment super-structure under construction, roughly the size of Earth's moon. Once completed, Shopping Moon will inherit its home planet's monumental legacy throughout the galaxy for hospitality and entertainment. Shopping Moon's prominence as the gem of Fifth Orbit will ensure the continuance of Planet Meeke's coveted status as a top tourist destination for aliens.

Is there a connection to Earth?

Planet Earth has a special role in this sci-fi comedy epic. Shopping Moon chronicles Earth's galactic coming-out party. And there's a bonus for earthling readers when UFOs are amusingly explained.

Shopping Moon sounds like a killer concept

Creating the top tourist destination in the galaxy is a fantasy and not intentional reality - but maybe a space zillionaire is out there listening or reading, and then who knows what might happen.

Why a screenplay?

Shopping Moon was imagined and written as a screenplay for a feature-length film - a great way to tell a story. Script format challenges the imagination whether you're a reader or the author.

If you enjoy movie and television adventures, you might consume this fantasy and seek more scripts to read. Many famous playwrights and filmmakers are publishing screenplays in paperback. Quentin Tarantino has at least three movie scripts in print.

Author's motivation?

How can you not have fun writing about Florida con men and drag queens in space?

Also, I wanted to be the first to write a sci-fi fantasy about cryptocurrency and nonfungible tokens to bookend the first environmental comedy ever authored, After the Ice Melts: a Christmas Story.
