Glenna Sloan earned a master's degree and doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University and an associate degree from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto. She taught for sixteen years in elementary and junior high schools and in the Division of Education at Queens College of the City University of New York for forty-three. She is author of several text books on literacy development, including The Child as Critic, an application of the theories of Northrop Frye, and several works of fiction for young people.
