Return to the fifties and sixties as you read Skinny Little Brown Haired Girl, a personal account of a vibrant period in US history.
Author Bonne Hopkins Douglas takes you back in this nostalgic and lighthearted memoir about growing up in the small Kentucky town of Anchorage. She shares memories of school and her grandmother's home cooking, spending pocket change at the Anchorage Drug Store, and much more-all during a time many baby boomers will relate to.
It's also a book full of cultural trivia. Douglas sprinkles her personal stories with research and fun facts on the most popular products of the era, including Jiffy Pop, Barbie dolls, the Slinky, and color TV.
Smile and laugh and perhaps shed a few tears as you read along and-for many baby boomers-relive a part of your childhood as well.
Bonne Hopkins Douglas, a first-time author and retired teacher, continues to teach others through her writing. Douglas spent thirty-three years as an educator in Kentucky, Tennessee, and South Carolina. She attended Eastern Kentucky University, earning undergraduate degrees in elementary education and special education and a master's degree in learning disabilities. Douglas now lives on beautiful Lake Murray in Chapin, South Carolina, with her husband. She enjoys fishing, boating, gardening, reading, and Sudoku.
