Snailing It! (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781464253461)

The sun is too sweaty. Bring on the SNAILS!

Where she lives, it's dusty, sizzling, and sunshiny 99% of the time. While everyone else races outside to soak up the sun, one shade-loving kid would rather stay somewhere cool.

Then one night, the clouds roll in. Pit-pat. Pitter-patter. Plink-plonk-plunk. CRACK-BOOM!

She wakes up to Snail Day.

Cool misty air. Drip-droppy plants. Soggy gray skies. And SNAILS! Eensie-weensie-teensie ones, chunky middle-size ones, and jumbo GINORMOUS ones are suddenly squelching, slurping, and glooping everywhere. Best of all is Tank, the ultimate grand champion of cuteness.

Following Tank's sparkly slime trail turns an ordinary rainy day into a backyard nature adventure. Young readers discover that snails need moisture to move, carry protective shells on their backs, love to eat, and have 14,000 teeny-tiny teeth. There's even a sidewalk traffic jam--with one very important rule: NEVER squish a snail.

Then the clouds part. The blazing sun is bad news for Tank and his friends, and suddenly there's a mission to complete: Operation Snail Rescue! ZOOM under the leaves! SHOOM under the rocks! ZIP back to the dark, mucky damp!

Written by Emmeline Forrestal and filled with Clary Huang's warm, whimsical illustrations, Snailing It! blends an energetic story with fascinating facts--plus more snail facts at the end. It's a joyful picture book that turns a rainy day into an invitation to slow down, look closely, and celebrate the things that make you happiest--even when everyone else prefers sunshine.

Perfect for ages 4 and up, preschool and early elementary readers, rainy-day read-alouds, and kids who love snails, bugs, backyard exploration, and wonderfully weird animal facts.
