xBerdjouhi Esmerian was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in an Armenian home. With world War II disrupting her childhood homes, the Suez Crisis and civil war in Lebanon changing the course of her education, she found peace only when she arrived in the United States at the age of thirty. She spent a fulfilling career at the Lawyers Co-operative Publishing Company in Rochester, New York, was very active in the small Armenian community in the city. In 2010 she co-authored a memoir anthology, According to Us, and has been published in Blue Lyra Review.
