Carollus Linneaus introduced hierarchy of classification and supported two kingdom system of classification. He also introduced Binomial nomenclature, a system of naming in which two names are assigned to one organism. In the new system of classification, organisms are grouped into five kingdoms namely Monera, Protista, Fungi, Plantae and Animalia.
Animals that donot have backbone are called in vertebrate animals. They are in the following phyla: Protozoa, Porifera, Coelenterata, Platyhelminthes, Nematoda, Annelida, Mollusca, arthropoda, Ehinodermata.
