Rubynelle Thyne began life in a South Carolina cotton mill village. She studied at Berea College, Southern Illinois University, and West Georgia College (now university), and has worked as a mill hand, a waitress, a potter, a maker of quilts and tufted rugs and as a studio weaver in addition to teaching high school English. Enjoying the jargon and speech patterns in each endeavor and location, she appreciated cat companions in every homeplace. Now retired, she writes poetry and prose in Woodstock, Georgia, aided by cats Pia and Tara.
