The field of education is under siege. Teachers are leaving the field and there are teacher shortages across the country. This is text is written by a veteran teacher of 16 years who has been able to maintain his love and enthusiasm for teaching. He also coaches teachers, so this text is a combination of advice, theory, narrative, and conversation. The author uses love, courage, hope, honesty, and transparency to open a discussion around difficult issues such as race, class, sexuality, immigration, frustration in the classroom, and teacher burnout.
