Stop Doing It All: Fair Workloads for Couples and Families (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9789309878930)

A home can look fine from the outside while one person is quietly doing the work of five: tracking appointments, noticing what is running out, planning meals, managing school messages, remembering birthdays, and carrying the stress of what will happen if anything is missed. The result is a familiar pattern - one partner becomes the household manager, the other becomes the helper - and resentment grows even when both people are trying. Stop Doing It All is a practical guide to making the load visible and sharing it fairly. Naya Elowen shows how invisible labour and the mental load in families get buried inside good intentions, and how "just tell me what to do" turns one adult into a reminder system. You will learn a clear task ownership system (ownership, not help), how to build a complete task inventory without starting a fight, and how to agree what "done" means so work does not bounce back to the same person. The book also offers simple family meeting scripts and a lightweight review rhythm that keeps fairness from drifting over time. For couples, co-parents, and blended families who want less tension and more teamwork, this book provides a calm, concrete way to redesign daily life: a more fair division of chores, better couple workload planning, and a household routine design that holds up under real schedules. The goal is not a perfect home - it is a home where shared responsibility at home is normal, reminders are rare, and resentment in relationships has far less room to take root.
