Some lessons...

Are never taught...

Inside a classroom.

They are learned...

On street corners.

In broken homes.

On playgrounds.

In silence.

Through fear.

Through love.

Through loss.

Through survival.

The STREET LESSONS 101 series is a deeply personal collection by Dr. Edward Avinger Jr. that explores the invisible education every one of us receives long before we ever open a textbook.

Drawing from his journey as a little boy growing up in Building 24, his career as a teacher and assistant principal, and decades of reflection, therapy, mentoring, and personal growth, Dr. Avinger examines the lessons that shaped him-and the ones he eventually had to unlearn.

These books are not simply memoirs.

They are conversations.

They challenge readers to look beneath behavior, beneath success and failure, beneath fear and trauma, to discover the beliefs quietly directing their lives.

Together, the books explore childhood, identity, relationships, emotional health, education, resilience, purpose, healing, forgiveness, leadership, and legacy with honesty, compassion, humility, and hope.

Every volume stands on its own while building upon the others, creating one continuous journey from survival to self-awareness, from self-awareness to healing, and from healing to a life of greater purpose.

Whether you grew up in the hood, the suburbs, a rural town, or somewhere in between, these books remind us that every child attends two schools.

The one with classrooms...

And the one called life.

One teaches reading.

The other teaches survival.

One gives us information.

The other shapes our beliefs.

The question isn't whether life has been teaching us.

The question is...

What has it been teaching us?

If you've ever wondered why you think the way you do...

Love the way you do...

React the way you do...

Avoid the things you avoid...

Or continue carrying wounds you can't quite explain...

This series was written for you.

HOOD 101: Street Lessons They Never Taught in School

The first classroom is the neighborhood. Through powerful stories from Building 24 and four decades in public education, this book explores the invisible curriculum of childhood-fear, respect, money, identity, survival, trauma, resilience, and the beliefs we inherit before we are old enough to question them.

LIFE 101: Life Lessons They Never Taught in School

School teaches us how to make a living. Life teaches us how to live. This book explores emotional maturity, responsibility, purpose, communication, relationships, boundaries, forgiveness, personal growth, and the practical wisdom that helps us become healthier human beings.

HEAL ME 101: Healing Lessons They Never Taught in School

Healing is more than surviving the past. It is learning how to stop repeating it. This final volume explores breaking generational cycles, emotional recovery, self-compassion, peace, forgiveness, resilience, and creating a legacy that transforms future generations.

These books are an invitation...

To understand your past.

To question the lessons you inherited.

To keep the ones that helped you survive...

And release the ones that no longer help you live.

Because your past may explain you.

It never has to define you.

Your story...

Isn't over.

Turn your page.

We'll keep walking together.
