Study In Nepal: From Student-Sending Nation to Global Knowledge Destination (Paperback) (ISBN-13: 9798188456788)

For decades, Nepal has been known as a nation that sends thousands of its brightest students abroad in search of quality education and opportunity. But what if Nepal could reverse that narrative? What if it became a country that attracts students, researchers, scholars, innovators, and universities from around the world?

STUDY IN NEPAL presents a bold and practical vision for transforming Nepal into an internationally respected education destination by 2040. More than a book about higher education, it is a comprehensive national blueprint that explores how education can become a driver of economic growth, innovation, diplomacy, tourism, research, and sustainable development.

Drawing on global examples from leading education nations-including Australia, Canada, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia, India, and China-the book examines what has made these countries successful and identifies how Nepal can build its own distinctive model based on its unique strengths rather than imitation.

At the heart of the book is a compelling argument: Nepal should not compete by offering the same programmes as every other country. Instead, it should lead in areas where no other nation can match its natural, cultural, and intellectual advantages. From Himalayan Studies and Mountain Medicine to Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, Hydropower, Sustainable Tourism, Buddhism, Indigenous Knowledge, and Himalayan Ecology, the book demonstrates how Nepal can create globally recognised centres of excellence rooted in its own identity.

The book introduces several original policy frameworks and strategic concepts, including:

• The Himalayan Knowledge Economy Model
• The Nepal Education Competitiveness Framework
• The Study in Nepal Ecosystem
• The Global Himalayan University Network (GHUN)
• The International Student Experience Model (ISEM)
• The Nepal Education Export Strategy
• Knowledge Pilgrimage
• A phased national roadmap for transforming Nepal into a global knowledge destination

Rather than offering abstract ideas, the book provides practical recommendations for policymakers, universities, education leaders, investors, and development partners. It addresses international student recruitment, visa reform, quality assurance, research funding, education cities, digital admissions, branding, public-private partnerships, faculty development, international accreditation, and long-term implementation strategies.

By envisioning Nepal in 2040-with thriving universities, world-class research institutes, over 100,000 international students, globally connected academic networks, and education as a major pillar of the national economy-the book challenges readers to rethink Nepal's place in the world.

STUDY IN NEPAL is an essential resource for:

• Policymakers and government leaders
• University vice-chancellors and administrators
• Education consultants and international recruitment professionals
• Academics and researchers
• Development organisations
• Investors in higher education
• Students interested in the future of global education
• Anyone passionate about Nepal's long-term development

This book is both a vision and a call to action. It argues that Nepal's future will not be defined solely by the height of its mountains, but by the strength of its universities, the quality of its ideas, and its ability to become a global centre of learning.

The twenty-first century will not remember Nepal only for the height of its mountains. It will remember Nepal for the height of its ideas.
