Surface Secrets was a long time in the making. I started this work in 2008 after a client came to me and said "I'm going to have my bathroom remodeled and here's what I chose for the finishes." He was so pleased with his choices I didn't have the heart to tell him that those finishes will not survive in a bathroom. Over time, I came to realize that people base their surface finish choices mostly on aesthetics without considering which finishes perform better in certain areas of the home. I also realized that there wasn't much information available to teach people about various finishes and the pros and cons of each, so I became inspired to write a book based on my many years of observation as I perform my cleaning routines in other homes. So I did! I want to thank all my clients whose homes showed me good and bad surfaces, I too, would not have noticed how different finishes perform without the long time observation of their homes finishes.
