in the Pacific region to help... Takeko Nakano of the Aizu clan was born in 1847 in Edo, at the Hoshina Matsudaira Residence
of the Aizu-Matsudaira clan, as daughter of Nakano Heinai and Nakano Kōko were born.
Her training began in 1853 to a samurai warrior.
She was trained in martial and literary arts by her teacher Akaoka Daisuke.
...in the same year when a fleet of American warships under the command of Commodore Matthew Perry appeared
and opened who wanted to force Japanese ports for the American ships...
He fired his ships at Edo to lend weight to his demands, but his ships were captured by the fleet
sunk of the Shogunate under the leadership of Tokugawa Ieyoshi.
His successor, Tokugawa Iesada, finally gave in, and so Japanese ports were opened to Western ships.
That changed everything...
The unequal treaties fueled widespread discontent among the population, who felt betrayed and sold out by the Shogun.
The rebellious samurai, who wanted the foreigners out of the country, and sections of the dissatisfied populace found support with the Emperor in Kyoto they formed the imperial army, which aimed to destroy the Shogunate.
...in 1863, an open rebellion broke out...
Takeko also completed his apprenticeship that same year and has become a master with the naginata herself
and became the samurai sword. Agent Odata discovered her talent and took her under his wing.
He saw that she had the potential to become a had a great leader, so she was chosen by him.
He furthered her training in the use of ranged weapons and taught her strategy, tactics, and asymmetric warfare.
...six months later she received her first command of a mixed unit where men and women work together against the imperial troops fought.
When she and her unit were victorious in several battles, the reigning Shogun Tokugawa Iemochi also recognized her potential and promoted her to general and thus transferred supreme command of the majority of his armed forces to
her with the consent of all northern Lords...
Thus, the army of the "Northern Alliance" was founded, in this way they were able to keep the imperial troops in check until 1867...
This year marked the 15th and last Shogunate Lord Tokugawa Yoshinobu firmly resolved to end the senseless war
and sent General Takeko Nakano sets off with a troop to access Kyoto.
That was a suicide mission to impress the emperor.
Thus, Takeko had already given up on her life when she met her.
The troop marched off...
