Up in the stand, just a board on a ladder.
It's nothing fancy, but that doesn't matter.
Down on the ground, the squirrels are all playing,
While I'm wondering where that big buck is staying.
Armed with a full life spent with family and friends in the great outdoors, Rich Miller has collected his stories and experiences in Tales from the Blind, a gathering of poems and yarns about deer, guns, and duck blinds. Miller fills his pages with lyrical, rhyming lines that will make any reader smile, laugh, or at least commiserate.
Miller's poems cover popular hunting topics such as missed deer, the bitter cold of a morning tree stand, and the simple joy of walking through the Texas woods. From that "Elusive Buck" to the ever-present "Squirrel Trouble," these poems touch on the subjects every deer hunter can sympathize with and laugh about. Many poems are accompanied by a story describing the inspiration behind the verses, leading to even more heartfelt and hilarious moments. Tales from the Blind ultimately celebrates the beauty and charm of spending time in the wild.
Rich Miller is an avid hunter and outdoor enthusiast. He works in the oil and gas industry as the vice president of a general contractor and also serves as the men's minister in his local church. Rich and his wife, Charla, have two children and two grandchildren. They reside in Vidor, Texas.
