Tall Tales: Memories of Blackpool Tower's Last Rigger (Hardcover) (ISBN-13: 9781915472205)

This is a tale about Blackpool Tower, but not one recounting its history - there are plenty of those books already. This is by one man who was the last rigger of the well-loved 518-foot edifice that Blackpool is renowned for. It is his story of working on her, his experiences and the love and respect gained over his many years of service to her. Dave gives insight into things that went on behind the scenes to keep the Grade 1 listed building working and open to visitors - the things that visitors to the town never get to find out. He tells of some of her quirks and mourns the loss of some of the now-lost skills of his trade.

Tall Tales will delight anyone whose home is in Blackpool and Lancashire, those who have many fond memories of day trips and holidays to the town as well as those with a love for incredible technical engineering.
